Steve Segner brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "house call." Segner, a 1990 graduate of the SIU automotive technology program, has been working as a mechanic since 1982. He began his Car Doctor business in 1986. Instead of starting his own garage, Segner decided he would take his mechanic service to his customers.

Long time Anacostia resident Daa'iyah Pasha applied for a grant from The Historic Homeowners Grant program earlier this year after hearing about the program through her neighborhood civic association.
Pasha, like others in her neighborhood, submitted the two- part grant application in hopes of getting much needed funding for maintenance on her home; a home she had grown up in and inherited, and that had now fallen into disrepair.

Construction on a new National Guard armory at Southern Illinois Airport may not begin until next spring instead of this fall. Gary Shafer, the airport's manager, said in an interview earlier this month that construction of a new $12 million armory on the east side of the airfield could begin this fall.

A study conducted by an SIUC economics professor about the effects of state-sponsored construction projects was presented to Gov. Rod Blagojevich Thursday. Former congressman Dennis Hatert and SIU President Glenn Poshard used these results as proof of the effects a capital plan would have on the state.
